Yoga Nidra

Do you race between work, school pick up and after-school activities and grab a coffee or sugar fix to get you through?

As mums, there are always way too many things competing for your time and attention.

But here’s the thing to keep in mind…

If you continue down the path of consistently overriding your rest-activity cycle you’ll burn out

and not be able to support those around you.

Imagine feeling like you've slept an extra 2 hours from just 20 minutes of Yoga Nidra.

Activities like reading, gardening and catching up with friends are all active forms of self care.

These activities will NURTURE parts of your body, mind and spirit but they don’t allow your nervous system to slow down and return to your basic 90 minute rest-activity cycle like Yoga Nidra.

Yoga Nidra is for you if you're:

  • stressed and feel overwhelmed with everything.
  • insanely busy and want to slow down.
  • overthinking everything and need to slow down your thoughts.
  • feeling anxious or depressed.
  • experiencing allergies or autoimmune disease.
  • experiencing digestion or appetite issues.
  • having trouble getting to sleep or staying asleep.

Yoga Nidra is a sleep-based, form of meditation in which your body sleeps while your mind is awake taking in the guided instructions.

There are no yoga poses.

You're laying on your back in a comfortable position and covered with a blanket.

It's only 30 minutes of your time.

It's REST for both your mind & body.

During the Yoga Nidra sessions you'll:

  • Be guided through a 30-minute relaxation.
  • Be able to switch off and allow your mind & body to REST.
  • Experience the equivalent rest to an extra 2 hours of sleep.
  • Have a group of women to connect with.
  • Enjoy the intimate boutique of Casa Yoga, East Geelong.

At the end of the 8 weeks you'll:

  • Experience a rested mind so that you're more present each day.
  • Regulate your rest-activity cycle so that you feel less exhausted.
  • Reduce stress hormone cortisol in your nervous system so that you feel calmer and enjoy time with your family.
  • Tune back into your gut and intuition and stop overthinking everything.
  • Regulate appetite, digestion, sleep, mood and memory by increasing the hormone serotonin in your body.
  • Regulate your core body temperature that helps with autoimmune disease and allergies.

Yoga Nidra will help you feel calmer and more relaxed so that you can be more present just like these other mums.

Who's the Yoga Nidra Instructor?

Hi, I’m Narelle a teacher, Wellness Coach, Yoga Nidra instructor and busy mum to two children. My son was recently diagnosed with autism. I started to practice Yoga Nidra everyday to feel calmer so that I could better support him and my family.

As a wellness coach, I help working mums who are always on the go but the constant juggle is taking a toll on their health. Yoga Nidra helps them to feel calmer, reduce the overthinking and reset the rest-activity cycle.

I know making this decision is going to bring up a lot worries for you. You're not alone so here are some of the most common ones.

How would I make time for another thing in my life?

  • I've scheduled both sessions in the evening so that you can come home after the session and continue to rest.
  • It is only a 30 minute session but you'll feel like you've rested for 2 hours.
  • This is all about creating some time for YOU to REST so that you can continue to give to those around you.

How can I afford it?

  • There is an afterpay option. Pay an initial $40 deposit and then 2 fortnightly payments of $28 in October.
  • By making time for your mind and body to rest you're investing in your health and will save money.
  • How long have you been prioritising everyone else? You can't afford to not take up this opportunity to create space for you to rest.

What if I'm not a yoga type of person?

  • There are no yoga poses at all.
  • You're laying on your back in a comfortable position and covered with a blanket.
  • You'll be guided through a sequence that helps you to relax and stop thinking about your to-do list.
  • I'm running a trial class on Tuesday 17th September so that you can experience Yoga Nidra before committing to 8 weeks.

It’s one thing to know what to do but another thing to be actually doing it. You have been overriding your rest-activity cycle for far too long. It’s time for you to start making time to REST.
