Apple Berry Crumble is a simple all-time winter favourite. With its emphasis on whole grains and fruit this could be the ideal healthy dessert. It is so easy to make while your oven is heating up.
Ingredients for Apple Berry Crumble
5 apples or tin apples
1/4 cup spelt flour OR almond flour
2 tablespoons of coconut
2 tablespoons of coconut sugar
1/4 cup oats OR quinoa flakes
2 tablespoon of melted butter OR coconut oil
1 teaspoon of cinnamon
Instructions for Apple Berry Crumble
Preheat the oven to 180C/350F/Gas 4.
Place the flour, coconut, oats and sugar in a large bowl and mix well. Taking a few cubes of butter at a time rub into the flour mixture. Keep rubbing until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
Place the fruit in a large bowl and sprinkle with cinnamon. Stir well being careful not to break up the fruit.
Butter a 24cm/9in ovenproof dish. Spoon the fruit mixture into the bottom, then sprinkle the crumble mixture on top.
Bake in the oven for 25-30 minutes until the crumble is browned and the fruit mixture bubbling.
Serve with yoghurt or ice cream for a treat.
